Let's Go Outside

Although British Summer Time (BST) is not officially over until 30th October (can't quite believe this), the weather in England throughout July before I went on holiday and the majority of August has been absolutely monstrous. Wind, rain, grey skies, cold legs.. the lot! It seems like we have hardly had any summer at all. But, I vow not to hide away my tan and continue to wear summer dresses and sandals as opposed to the coats, jeans and boots the rest of those who have given into the horrible weather have been sporting over the past week the weather has been at it's worst. I'm not sure if you are aware, but the British have a tendency and are historically known to moan about the weather far too much than is necessary (and is the reason why I will refrain from doing so in a few sentences time) - we shiver when it is too cold, moan when the sun appears because it's "too hot" and groan when the sun shines at the wrong time of the week (weekends, when everybody is back to work/school, etc.)

So I thought it would be an apt idea to share with you some handpicked images from a range of editorials- a mixture of good/bad weather- of models who are all out in the open air, making the most of their surroundings, whatever the climate. All celebrate the outside in all it's glory and I think that's what the Brits should be doing whatever the weather. So, coat or no coat, get outside and explore. Let me know which are your favourites? Do you prefer the summer or winter? Are you wearing your coat already where you're from?

This week and beyond in pictures

Interning
Giving my time to a women's lifestyle website in Chelsea, London. I look forward to commuting to a wonderful part of the city where duties include, amongst many other things, overseeing the website and researching for articles.

Graduation
On Tuesday I finally graduated in BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism. It was a truly wonderful day spent with thoseI have had the opportunity to work with over the past few years and close family members. I was exteremely nervous (as the picture suggests) walking up to greet the legendary Zandra Rhodes, a combination of maintaining my balance and remembering to smile as the camera panned onto our faces as we strode on stage to collect our scrolls.
Afterwards, we had drinks and my parents treated me to a truly scrumptious meal and bottle of Champagne to celebrate my achievement.

Holiday
My holiday wish came true! I cannot tell you how happy I am that my family eventually booked a holiday to be spent in the wonderully sunny location of Turkey. Sun, escapism and a whole lot of fun awaits me!

Birthday
I will be turning 21 at the end of the month and I am extremely excited to know that I will be on holiday.. celebrating by sunning it up and watching the sun set before dancing the night away.

S O M E W H A T

So... a holiday IS ON the cards and that means one thing - a complete lack of posts from me. But don't fret! Stay tuned to discover my goings-on when I return.

In the meantime, whilst I am lying flat on a sun lounger, enjoy these pictures.

What exciting things have you been up to?

Mila Kuins for GQ

Wow, this month has been a very busy one indeed for celebs: SJP for US Vogue, Jessica Alba for allure, Audrey Tautou for Marie Claire UK, Lily Allen for ELLE UK, Emma Watson for Harper's Bazaar UK, Penelpe Cruz for V, Tilda Swinton for W and the stunning beauty (and girl crush) that is Mila Kunis for GQ. I'm guessing the majority of you have heard about the American soldier who asked Kunis to be her date for the annual Corps Ball- in return, she remained completely courteous and accepted the offer. I can't imagine many other actresses would have acted in the same manner- another reson why I like her so much, despite her comedy acting, dress sense and more recently, her status as a cover star. Although there is not much clothing required for this particular shoot, (just a pair of the most amazing platform sandals will do) I still think she looks beautiful and tatsefully so. The cover is particularly fun and cheeky, don't you think?

To read the interview and view the editorial, see here. She co-stars in new film
Friends with Benefits, which is released in the U.K. on 9th September.

Pic of the week

Anabela Belikova | by Nagi Sakai

As part of a beautifully simple and elegant fashion editorial from the April 2011 issue of Spanish Harper's Bazaar, entitled 24 Hours, this image was the one I found most striking.

Subtle, summery and simply stunning.

Also:
The perfect interview outfit.
A suitably retro look.
Great ensemble for a wedding.

Daily dose of another favourite

When my ELLE magazine arrived yesterday, I was so excited to see the gorgeous and oh so pretty Carey Mulligan on the cover, looking beautifully sweet and elfin with her fab new crop. I feel like I am always blogging about people who I admire or simply love the 'look' of, but she seems to be a lot of people's girl crush at the moment, especially to style fanatics. She is certainly proving her status as a style icon, after landing 5 magazine covers this year and being awarded first place in Harper's Bazaar's annual 'Britain's Best Dressed' list for their December issue. She was described by Erdem as 'so Sixties French New Wave' and is the reason why I love her so much and which is showcased so impressively in that pastel Miu Miu dress at the Costume's Institute Annual Gala.
