Pop star Pixie Lott chose Manchester to launch her latest fashion range - because she says girls here know how to party in style.

The blonde chart-topper caused quite the stir as she headed to the Manchester Arndale yesterday to launch her new autumn/winter range with retailer Lipsy - as well as perform a special live set for a huge crowd of fans.

 And she told The Diary it just had to be Manchester where she unveiled her girly collection of mini-dresses, playsuits and sequinned hotpants.

She said: "Manchester girls really like to dress up and this is a great place to party so I couldn't think of a better place to launch the new collection."

Pixie, whose latest song All About Tonight shot to number one earlier this month, chose a blue ruched playsuit to head to the launch, because she reckons it's "comfortable".

"Playsuits are really comfortable and I think it's a very flattering shape for any figure."

Hmm, easy for you to say Pixie!

As for her own style inspirations?  "Edie Sedgwick and Brigitte Bardot," she smiles.  "I hope that comes out in the range."
